CSA Transitions to “Surf Canada” Following Special Meeting of the Members
Surf Canada has officially approved a change to its organizational name and governing bylaws following a Special Meeting of Members held on January 29, 2026.
At the meeting, members voted to formally adopt new bylaws and approve the organization’s name change from CSA Surf Canada to Surf Canada. This decision reflects the organization’s continued evolution and strengthens its national identity as the recognized governing body for surfing in Canada.
Surf Canada is now in a transition period as branding, digital platforms, and communications are updated to reflect the new name. These updates include changes to the official website, email addresses, social media channels, and other public-facing materials. During this transition, members and partners may continue to see references to CSA Surf Canada while systems and platforms are being updated.
“This change marks an important step forward for our organization,” said Lionel Conacher. “The name Surf Canada better reflects who we are, the athletes we represent, and our role in developing and promoting surfing across the country, while aligning with our national and international presence.”
The adoption of new bylaws further supports stronger governance, improved clarity, and operational alignment as Surf Canada continues to grow the sport at all levels — from grassroots participation to high-performance and international competition. The updated bylaws are now available on the website under the Policies section.
