RIDER BIO

Dom Domic has been in the Surf Canada E.D./President role since October 11, 2011 and accepted the position after 12 years with the British Columbia Surfing Association (BCSA) as their CEO/President. Dom also co-founded Canada’s first Pro/Am surf competition in 1988 on Vancouver Island, B.C., which led to the formation of the BCSA and continues to this day as the Rip Curl Pro Tofino Canadian National Championships.

Dom was the Canadian U21 Champion, 3 X National Team member representing Canada at 3 World Championships. During this time, he graduated with a BA and MPA from the University of Victoria.

Dom has over 28 years experience in sport management and in the action sports industry, along with extensive and proven sponsorship acquisition and servicing skills and experience. Since the beginning, he has delivered brand activation platforms for the BCSA and more recently with the CSA Surf Canada’s corporate partners including a wide range of non-endemic brands and public stakeholders. He continues to provide significant and quality support to these partners and prides himself on going above and beyond to maximize the outcomes of these partnerships.

The result of nearly 30 years of events and partnerships is a healthy home-grown competitive environment to maximize Canadian talent. Currently, Canadian Surf and SUP athletes have made a massive impact on the World stage, including medals and World Championships in SUP, top 10 in Junior Surf and a WSL 6star event win. For 2018, Canada is World ranked at a very impressive 10 out of 48 Nations, and with plenty of room to continue to improve; our athletes have their eyes on the ultimate prize!

Dom has pioneered competitive Canadian Surfing and he is determined to take Canadian surfers to the ultimate multi-sports event, Tokyo 2020 for Surfing’s Olympic debut, and beyond.
