Stokes Officially Qualifies for Pan American Games and World Beach Games

Surf City, El Salvador – May 14, 2023Liv Stokes (CAN) on the back of her sensational Silver medal at the Pan American Surfing Games just the week previous in Panama, was coming into the ISA World Longboard Championships at Surf City, El Salvador with very high expectations as one of four women provisionally qualified for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Stokes, under intense pressure, needed to defend her spot, and got the job done and also earned a coveted spot at the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) World Beach Games in Bali, Aug 5-12. “Going into Santiago 2023, I’m super stoked about that,” Stokes said. “I tried to qualify for Lima back in 2019 but I unfortunately was knocked out in the first round and that was really hard for me. So it’s been really good knowing that all my hard work paid off. I’m excited for the future.”

The confirmed Women’s Santiago 2023 qualifiers @santiago2023oficial are Maria Fernanda Reyes (PER), Liv Stokes 🇨🇦 (CAN), Samantha Wilson (CHI), Lia Reyes Diaz (CRC), Sindy Portillo (ESA), Iana Ramirez (PUR), Inés Beisso (URU), Kaitlin Mikkelsen (USA) and Chloe Calmon (BRA).

The qualifying nations for the Bali 2023 ANOC World Beach Games were also solidified today. One slot each was awarded to nine National Olympic Committees (NOC’s) for Men and ten for Women. Five additional NOC’s earned one slot for Men through continental allocation, while four additional NOC’s earned one slot each for Women’s continental allocations.
