One of the event’s standouts, Wheeler Hasburgh (CAN), regained his form that brought him to the 2024 Final at this event. The 19-year-old, Hasburgh, had to overcome Kai Gale Grani (PAN) in the Quarterfinals and delivered a 14.67 (out of a possible 20) heat total before upping the ante to a 15.00 total over the East Coast’s own Carl Burger (USA). Now, Hasburgh gains momentum heading into Puerto Rico for a shot at more points on the line.
“It’s a better result than last year, but obviously I wanted to take the win. But, big congrats to Cannon, it’s been a long time coming for him,” said Hasburgh. “I made a couple of mistakes, but I have a long way to go, so I know there’s room to improve, and I’ll keep working hard. I had a slow start to the season and this is a big confidence booster. When you lose, you learn so much more, and it opens your eyes, so I’m really stoked, and now it’s time to train and get ready for the next 4,000.”
